NEW YORK — Friars and partners-in-ministry are invited to a workshop next spring titled “Evangelizing Youth and Young Adults.”
The Province’s Evangelization Directorate, in conjuction with the HNP Young Adult Committee, is offering this program on March 19 in San Damiano Hall on West 31st Street. The Saturday workshop, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be facilitated by Dominic Perri, known to the friars of the Province from his work with the Vision and Planning process leading up to the 2008 Provincial Chapter.
“The workshop is open to all friars and to all youth and young adult ministers in our provincial ministries,” said David McBriar, OFM, co-chair of the HNP Evangelization Directorate. Registration by attendees is requested by March 1.
Outreach to young adults is a key focus of the 2008-2013 HNP Strategic Plan.
Perri, a Chicago-based consultant on religious community topics, said the objectives of his program are:
• increased understanding of youth and young adults and what they seek from the Church
• development of practical strategies to help ministries to better invite and involve youth and young adults.
“Dominic Perri has offered successful presentations on this subject,” said David, adding that Perri has also given a webinar.
This is the second major program that the Province’s Evangelization Directorate has offered. In February of this year, it presented a preaching workshop to friars.
