MADRID, Spain — As plans get underway for this summer’s Youfra International Meeting and World Youth Day, the organizers are seeking financial help to enable two delegates to attend the events.

Minenhle Scott, vice president of the Young Franciscans, recently contacted the Provincial Office to seek financial help to offset the cost of accommodations and transportation to Madrid.

The Youfra International Meeting is taking place before the World Youth Dayfrom Aug. 12 to 21. The World Youth Day website calls the event a meeting of young people from all over the world, gathered to celebrate and learn about their faith. It is one of the primary means by which the Church proclaims the message of Christ to, and expresses its concern for, young people.

World Youth Day 2011 will include programs for young members of the international Franciscan family, according to a letter received by Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM, who said that anyone from Holy Name Province and partners-in-ministry is welcome to attend. Friars who are planning to travel to Spain for any of the events are asked to contact Michael at the Provincial Office, 646-473-0265.

Information about financial assistance is available from Scott and Br. Nicholas Ngema, brother superior of theSecular Franciscan Order, at 078-857-9769.
