NEW YORK — St. Stephen of Hungary Church, on E. 82nd Street here, will hold a “Year for Priests Celebration” next month.
The May 23 event will begin with 10:15 a.m. Mass honoring pastorAngelus Gambatese, OFM, and previous pastors of the parish, as well as priests currently residing at St. Stephen’s Friary. A brunch will follow at 11:30.
The event is being chaired by Elizabeth Gyenis, the parish coordinator of volunteers, in conjunction with Maria Mezei, president of the parish council. Also lending assistance is Carolyn Croke, of the Province’s Vocation Office.
As a token of appreciation, the parish will make a donation to the Province’s Infirmary Appeal, which supports the care of retired religious.
