FRANKLIN, Wis. — In their recent newsletter, the Franciscan friars of Assumption BVM Province announced that they are now communicating via Facebook. The Oct. 5 newsletter explains how to find the Facebook page.
This province is one of several OFM English-speaking Conference provinces now using social media. In addition to Holy Name, which launched its page in February 2010, other provinces using Facebook include the Franciscans of Eastern Canada, St. Barbara Province and St. John the Baptist Province.
Other recent news announced through the Assumption newsletters include:
• the September move by friars in Cedar Lake, Ind., from “the decades-old and beloved Lourdes Friary,” as the Oct. 5 NewsBriefs said, to a new friary “down the hill”
• workshops on the translations of the Roman Missal, third edition
• events at Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, Wis., to raise awareness of homelessness
