Patrick Dalton, OFM
1912 – 1947
Fr. Patrick Dalton, OFM, was born Feb. 9, 1912 in Philadelphia. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Seraphic Seminary, Callicoon, N.Y., he entered the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1934 and professed temporary vows one year later. Fr. Patrick made his solemn profession in 1938 and was ordained in 1941.
He spent several years in the south at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Greenville, S.C., and St. Benedict the Moor Church in Winston-Salem, N.C., and four years at St. Anne’s Parish in Fair Lawn, N.J.
He died on April 18, 1949 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Newark, N.J. Fr. Patrick was 37 years old, a professed friar for 13 years and a priest for seven years.
