Joseph Hamm

1887 – 1962

Br. Joseph Hamm, OFM, was born Sept. 7, 1887 in Scranton, Pa. He joined the friars in his early 40s and was received into the novitiate at St. Bonaventure Friary, Paterson, N.J., in 1931. He professed temporary vows one year later and made his solemn profession in 1935.

For 25 years, Br. Joe served as refectorian at Holy Name College, Washington, until 1956, when he transferred to Paterson. He entered Mother Schervier Home in the Bronx, N.Y., and died there in 1962. Br. Joe was 74 years old, a professed friar for 29 years.
