Upcoming Provincial Events

HNP Communications Around the Province

The Provincial Administration has announced the dates and locations of several major events for next year.

The Province’s annual commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at the 5 p.m. Mass on Jan. 15 at St. Camillus Church in Silver Spring, Md. Details about the event are being planned by members of the Province’s African Ancestry Committee, under the direction of David Hyman, OFM.

The 2012  ordination of priests is scheduled for May 19 at St. Camillus Church.

The 2012 solemn profession will be Aug. 25 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, New York City.

The public is welcomed to all of these special Masses.

In October, the HNP Hispanic Ministry Committee will hold its second Franciscan Encuentro. The Oct. 20 gathering will be at St. Camillus Church.

Several friar events are planned by the Province for early next year, beginning with the annual formation intersession, scheduled for Jan. 6 to 8 in Maryland.

Two friar retreats — both with the theme “Is St. Francis ‘too’ saintly for us?” — are scheduled for two friaries named for St. Anthony. Per a flyer provided by F. Edward Coughlin, OFM, they are Jan. 23 to 27 in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Feb. 6 to 9 in Butler, N.J.

Also, a series of fraternal gatherings is being arranged by Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM, for late winter and early spring 2012.
