I was informed March 26 by Bishop Joseph Gossman that the Diocese of Raleigh has withdrawn its request for friars to staff the ministry at Chapel Hill. The bishop reaffirmed his great respect for the friars and that he would be delighted to have more of us minister in his diocese. However, he indicated that the priests of the diocese believe that Chapel Hill should be staffed by diocesan priests.
Also, I am happy to announce that a deal has been reached to sell our building in Providence, R.I. The friars will be moving to St. Mary’s Parish in Providence, while continuing to staff a downtown chapel.
