WILMINGTON, Del. — Two friars will be ordained to the transitional diaconate on Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. Paul Church.
Provincial Vicar Lawrence Hayes, OFM, will present Mario Gómez, OFM, and Edgardo Jara, OFM, to Bishop Dennis Sullivan of Camden, N.J., during the 1:30 p.m. liturgy. All are welcome to attend the Mass.
The day before the diaconate ordination, Edgardo plans to profess solemn vows alongside John Aherne, OFM, and George Camacho, OFM. Mario, who professed solemn vows in 2012, hopes to complete his master of divinity degree at Boston College in May. In June, he plans to transfer to Duns Scotus Friary in Durham, N.C., to serve as a pastoral assistant for Immaculate Conception Parish.
Mario and Edgardo ask for prayers as they prepare themselves to receive this blessed gift from God.
