NEW YORK — The Provincial Council, at its June 24 meeting, accepted the resignation of Christopher Keenan, OFM, as guardian of All Saints Friary, New York City, for reasons of health, and appointed Steven Pavignano, OFM, as his replacement. The Council also announced news of two others.
Timothy Powers, who withdrew from the Order as a simply-professed friar in October 2005, has been accepted back into the Province’s formation program. During his time away, Tim taught at St. Francis Xavier High School in New York City. On June 19, he began a month-long retreat at Mount Irenaeus, West Clarksville, N.Y. After a brief vacation, he will spend the rest of the summer ministering at St. Francis Inn in Philadelphia and then return to Holy Name College at the end of August to continue his theological studies.
The Province is seeking permission for Tim to be admitted to profession after a suitable period of probation, without having to repeat novitiate, according to Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM.
Lambert Valentine, OFM, has been permanently assigned to Holy Name Friary, Ringwood, N.J., effective June 18.
