The Provincial Council has announced new assignments for five friars.

At its Jan. 17 to 18 meeting, the Provincial Council confirmed the assignments of a number of friars, some of which had already been under discussion from earlier meetings.

Daniel Grigassy, OFM, was granted permission to accept an appointment to the faculty of St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Md., as associate professor of liturgy and sacraments and as director of liturgy for the seminary. He will move to Baltimore in June in preparation for the fall semester.

Transitions46-3Khoa Nguyen, OFM, was granted permission to accept an invitation from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to serve as chaplain and moderator of the Vietnamese Catholic Community of the Dayton area, effective Jan. 27. Khoa will reside at Sacred Heart Rectory in Dayton. He will be connected with the Franciscan fraternity of St. Clement Friary in Cincinnati.

James O’Connell, OFM, has been appointed Catholic chaplain at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He will reside at St. Stephen of Hungary Friary, on East 82nd Street, effective Jan. 30.

Christopher VanHaight, OFM, has been appointed pastor of St. Bonaventure Parish in Paterson, N.J., and guardian of the friary, effective June 1.

Provincial Treasurer Dennis Wilson, OFM, will take up residence at St. Francis Friary on West 31st Street in New York, effective Jan. 30.
