The Provincial Council, at its meeting of May 23 to 24, confirmed eight personnel appointments.
John Alderson, OFM, has been appointed guardian of St. Patrick Friary in Buffalo, N.Y., effective June 1, replacing Francis Pompei, OFM. Francis had asked to step down because his ministry with the Mystery Players demands that he make frequent road trips.
Paul Breslin, OFM, who has served as superior of the Province’s mission in Peru since 2002, will return to the United States late this summer to be parochial vicar at St. Francis Parish in Triangle, Va. Anthony Wilson, OFM, has been appointed as superior of the mission, effective September 1.
Daniel Horan, OFM, whose assignment to graduate studies at Boston College was announced recently, will reside at the Assumptionist Center, 330 Market St, Brighton, Mass., when he goes to Boston to begin studies in August.
Emmet Murphy, OFM, has been assigned to St. Anthony Parish, Butler, N.J., as a senior associate friar, effective June 18.
Robert Norton, OFM, has been assigned to St. Bonaventure Parish, Paterson, N.J. as parochial vicar, effective June 15.
Upon the nomination of the Provincial Council, Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York has appointed Charles O’Connor, OFM, pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Callicoon, N.Y., effective August 1. Charles is serving under Ignatius Smith, OFM, as parochial vicar until then. Ignatius will continue in Callicoon as senior friar in residence, assisting in the various Sullivan County parishes as needed.
