CEDAR LAKE, Ind. — The Interprovincial Novitiate of three mid-U.S. Provinces — St. John the Baptist, Sacred Heart and Assumption — recently welcomed nine into the program.

One novice is from Assumption, based in Wisconsin; five from St. John the Baptist, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three from Sacred Heart, based in St. Louis/Chicago.

A reception took place on June 25 after evening prayer at the San Damiano Friary in Cedar Lake, Ind. Newly-elected ministers of Sacred Heart and St. John the Baptist, Fr. Michael Perry, OFM, and Fr. Jeff Scheeler, OFM, welcomed the novices.

The Interprovincial Novitiate team is new this year; it includes John Stein, master of novices; Camillus Janus, guardian; and Larry Nickels, bursar.
