Some notable March events that took place around Holy Name Province:

One Year Ago
March 12, 2010 — The Province’s Vocation Office distributed the first issue ofBe A Franciscan newsletter to friars and men who have expressed interest in the Province. The quarterly publication replaced Insight & Wisdom. (The spring 2011 issue is available electronically on the “Join Us” page of the HNP website.)

Five Years Ago
March 10, 2006 — Twenty-four friars representing 10 HNP ministries joined with nearly 1,000 participants at the second Province-sponsored Ecumenical Advocacy Days for Global Peace with Justice in Washington, D.C. Russell Testa said the EADs were “fast becoming one of the primary vehicles for us to do effective advocacy on national political issues.” (This year, friars — including Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM — will participate in the ninth annual EAD March 25 to 28. The theme will be “Development, Security & Economic Justice: What’s Gender Got to Do with It?”)

March 12, 1976 — A workshop for regional vocational teams was held at St. Francis Friary in New York City. (Today, there are six vocation teams of directors and assistant directors based regionally around the Province.)
