June 4-9, 2017 — More than 200 friars participated in the Provincial Chapter at Siena College that resulted in the election of new councilors, discussions about identity and culture, and a preference survey about the reconfiguration process of the U.S. provinces. One year later, the friars voted on May 30 to unify six U.S. OFM provinces into one national province.
June 11, 2017 — Assumption Parish in Wood-Ridge, N.J., concluded its 90th anniversary commemorations with a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Joseph Tobin, CssR, of Newark, N.J.
June 11, 2017 — Holy Name Province announced that it would return care of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Camden, N.J., to the Diocese of Camden.

June 14, 2013 — Approximately 400 members of the Long Beach Island, N.J., community gathered to celebrate the reopening of St. Francis of Assisi Church, nearly eight months after Hurricane Sandy damaged the structure and much of the surrounding area.

June 1-5, 2008 — Nearly 175 friars participated in the triennial chapter at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y. The chapter focused on refining and ratifying a vision statement and strategic plan for the Province, the election of Provincial Councilors, and discussion of other proposals.
June 7, 2008 — The Filipino community at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New York City celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Mass. Julian Jagudilla, OFM, served as homilist.
June 29, 2008 — Members of Holy Cross Parish in the Bronx, N.Y., gathered for a farewell celebration as Holy Name Province returned care of the church to the Archdiocese of New York. The following year, a street in the Soundview neighborhood was named “Franciscan Way.”
20 Years Ago
June 14, 1998 — St. Joseph Parish in East Rutherford, N.J., marked the 125th anniversary of its founding. The Province returned care of the parish to the Archdiocese of Newark, N.J., in 2011.
