Brother Shane Burke, OSF, the Superior General of the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, died on Dec. 27. He passed away within a day of Br. Donan Conrad, also of the Franciscan Brothers. Brother Shane’s funeral Mass was held Dec. 30 at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in South Huntington, N.Y.
Both men helped turn St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington from a small school into an academic and athletic powerhouse, according to a Jan. 2 Newsday article.
In the past few days, as alumni gathered to pay their respect to the two men, many stories have been exchanged.
