SILVER SPRING, Md. — St. Francis International School, a merger of St. Camillus and St. Mark the Evangelist schools, opened its doors last month and was featured several days later as the cover story of the Catholic Standard, the publication of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Roughly 500 students are enrolled in the pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school outside the nation’s capital.

“We are very excited,” said Michael Johnson, OFM, pastor of St. Camillus Church in the Sept. 2, 2010, issue of the Catholic Standard. “A lot of good learning will be taking place here this year.”

The school aims to offer a Catholic education with a global perspective, according to the article. Photos of the school’s co-heads, Tobias Harkleroad — formerly principal of St. Camillus School — and Matt Russell, appeared in the newspaper.
