TRIANGLE, Va. — John O’Connor traveled to St. Francis Church in Triangle for the Nov. 4 kickoff of a year of festivities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the parish. John ,who was pastor there for 13 years, presided and preached at the Saturday evening Mass which was followed by a pot luck dinner in the parish center.
The church was filled to capacity for the Mass, and more than 200 parishioners attended the dinner. Several different events will take place during the year ahead including a parish pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, and a parish cruise to Bermuda.
The year of celebration will conclude with a Mass and formal dinner dance next November.
