BOSTON – St. Anthony Shrine is adding a new ministry this week. The legal advice center will open from 4 to 6:45 p.m. on June 7, and it will be open every Wednesday thereafter. This past Sunday, David Convertino blessed the center during the 10 a.m. Mass. Following the Mass, a reception was held in the shrine auditorium with several friars, shrine community members and staff of the human services department attending.

The St. Anthony Shrine Legal Advice Center came into being with the help of the Director of Human Services Gary Convertino. It will provide specific services to those who otherwise would not have access to legal aid. The focus of the center will be on landlord/tenant issues, employment legal advice and background checks, wills and healthcare proxies, funeral arrangements, consumer debt-related issues, and SSI or SSDI issues.

The center is expected to be a very busy place.
