Panelists will iscuss Frank McCourt Teacher Man: A Memoir. Portions of Frank McCourt’s life have been provocatively told in previous memoirs, ‘Tis, and the Pulitzer Prize winning Angela’s Ashes. But according to novelist Phillip Lopate, Teacher Man is the best book in the trilogy, an enthralling work of autobiography and storytelling. Panelists will examine multiple themes in McCourt’s collective memoirs. They tell the story of an impoverished Irish Catholic immigrant to America whose literary aspirations went unfulfilled, until he found his voice and his soul in the classroom.
