LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — The friar community of Siena College celebrated the 25th anniversary of the current friary by welcoming students, faculty, administrators, and staff to an open house on Friday, Oct. 20.
Throughout a cold, rainy afternoon approximately 150 people gathered. The friars gave tours of the public space of the friary and shared stories of the building with guests. For many of the students, it was their first visit to the friary. A fall feast of cider, cookies, apples, and apple-cider doughnuts was served.
A prayer service concluded the celebration with a rededication of the building. During the service, the names of the deceased friars who had lived in the building were recalled.
Ten members of the current 27-member friar community were part of the original fraternity. They are Romuald Chinetsky, Julian Davies, Peter Fiore, Capistran Hanlon, Kevin Mackin, Reginald Reddy, Blaise Reinhardt, Sennen San Fratello, Dennis Tamburello, and John Van Hook. It was also noted that Laurence Rainville has been part of this group until this past spring when he joined the friar community at Holy Name in Ringwood, NJ.
