LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Siena College reached out Sept. 2 to console its State Police neighbors at Troop G by praying for troopers Donald Baker Jr. and Joseph Longobardo during a Mass, according to the Albany Times Union.

“We ask you to keep in your prayers the state troopers who were horribly wounded,” Kevin Mackin, Siena’s president, was quoted as reminding a congregation of about 500 people at the college .

While the service was to welcome the incoming freshman class, they and their families also heard Kevin and William Beaudin, the college chaplain, mention Baker and Longobardo four times during the Mass.

The Siena community will remember Baker and Longobardo in its daily prayers, Bill is mentioned as saying in the article.

Unfortunately, one of the two men, Trooper Joseph Longobardo, died the following day from his injuries.
