RALEIGH, N.C. — The Franciscan Coalition for Peace and Justice at the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi here has launched a program of electronic and social media communications.
The recent Coalition News e-letter, which was sent to more than 1,650 people, reported that the new Franciscan Coalition Facebook group not only announces news and activities related to social justice ministries at St. Francis, it allows followers to RSVP to Coalition events.
Staff members of the Franciscan Coalition are regular contributors to the parish blog.
The new means of communication will help keep people informed about the news and activities of the parish and the coalition, along with issues and thoughts related to the blog.
By using the same icon as the church on its communications, the coalition sends a consistent theme and message for all the parish ministries, according to Trevor Thompson, director of pastoral ministries. He is former director of the Warming House in Olean, N.Y., a ministry of St. Bonaventure University.
Editor’s note: Many other ministries of Holy Name Province are using social media services to deliver information and create a dialogue. Links to HNP ministries can be in the “Our Work” section of HNP.org. Friars and their partners-in-ministry are encouraged to alert the HNP Communications Office about blogs, Facebook pages and ministry news; contact communications director Jocelyn Thomas.
