NEW YORK — St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street can now be found on Facebook, the wildly popular social networking Web site.
Participating on Facebook offers several benefits, according to St. Francis Church. Its Oct. 19 parish bulletin says: “Join the group ‘St. Francis of Assisi NYC’ on Facebook to see who else is a member, be informed of news and events, and keep in touch with what’s going on in your parish community. Stay connected the way you like to stay connected. Join the group today and invite your friends.”
The Province’s Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan Mountain Retreat in West Clarksville, N.Y., is also accessible on Facebook via group name ‘Mount Irenaeus – Intercollegiate Retreats’. Its Web site encourages visitors to “become a fan of Mt. Irenaeus on Facebook” The page says, “Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life.” As of Oct. 31, it included 51 fans.
Access to either group requires a Facebook profile, which can easily be created at Facebook.com. Once logged into your profile, simply search for the name of either group and then click on the ‘Join Group’ link to become a fan.
