Provincial Council Provides Meeting Highlights

NEW YORK – Below are highlights from the Provincial Council’s Oct. 17-18 meeting at the Provincial Office.

Guardians’ Meeting
The Provincial Council reviewed the agenda for the annual guardians’ meeting to be held at St. Anthony Friary in St. Petersburg, Fla., Nov. 12-15.   The meeting will include a presentation by Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM, and a discussion of various topics including vocations, finances, visioning and planning, and initiatives of some of the Province’s six directorates.

Capital Campaign
The Council members met with John Piccione, OFM, the Province’s development director, and Leslie Biggins Mollsen and Carl Meirose from American City Bureau, Inc., to review the results of a feasibility study for a capital campaign.  Details will be provided to friars in the coming months, John said.

Novitiate Location
Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM, reported on the September meeting of the  Formation and Studies Directorate, providing feedback and recommendations on the location of the novitiate program.  The Council discussed the report and voted that the novitiate remain at St. Paul’s Friary, Wilmington, Del., for the present.

Friar Transitions
The Provincial Council approved new assignments for two friars:

Thaddeus Sapio, OFM, has been assigned to St. Mary of the Angels Church, Anderson, S.C., as parochial vicar, effective Nov. 1.

C. Raymond Selker, OFM, has been assigned to Holy Cross Church, Bronx, N.Y., as parochial vicar, effective Dec. 1.

The next Provincial Council meeting will be Nov. 15-16 at St. Anthony Friary in St. Petersburg.
