NEW YORK — Gerald Hopeck, OFM, will profess his final vows as a member of the Franciscan Order on Aug. 22 at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street. He was approved for solemn profession by the Provincial Minister after the Provincial Council’s April meeting.
All are welcome to the 11 a.m. Mass, to be celebrated by Provincial Minister Kevin Mullen, OFM.
A native of Bridgeport, Conn., Gerald graduated from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., with a bachelor’s in theology and history and earned a master’s in theology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. Before entering the Province’s formation program in 2008, he was a pastoral associate at several parishes, working with youth and the African-American community, and serving as director of religious education. While in formation, he served as co-principal of St. Francis International School in Silver Spring, Md., and is currently finishing an internship at St. Joseph Church and School in Anderson, S.C.
