Province Plans Franciscan Family Study Day

HNP Communications Around the Province

NEW YORK — As part of the commemorations of the 800th anniversary of the Franciscan Order, Holy Name Province is holding a Franciscan Family Study Day here this spring.

On April 25, the friars will gather in San Damiano Hall on West 31st Street to learn and to discuss.

The day will include a presentation by Michael Blastic, OFM, an associate professor at the Franciscan Institute in Allegany N.Y., titled “Our Franciscan Evangelical Way of Life and Ministry in the 21st Century,” and four workshops.

The event information was mailed last month to friars.

Participants will attend two of four concurrent afternoon workshops. Presenters include Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM, Anthony Carrozzo, OFM, and F. Edward Coughlin, OFM.

Michael recently published a book, Study of the Rule of 1223. He will also lead a retreat at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center March 2 to 5.

The April 25 event is sponsored by the HNP Franciscan Life Directorate and Ongoing Formation Committee, chaired by Ed, who says that it is open to all members of the “Franciscan family.”

Registration can be completed by contacting Sharon Berrios at the Provincial Office, 646-473-0265 ext. 301.
