NEW YORK — The friars of Holy Name Province are mourning the deaths of two friends.
Sr. Marie Josephine Frese, OSF, a Franciscan Sister of Allegany, died Sept. 4 at St. Elizabeth Convent in Tampa, Fl.
Barbara Ottinger died Sept. 9 in Albuquerque, N.M. Ottinger was well-known to many friars who lived at Holy Name College in Washington, D.C., from the 1940s through 1980s. She was a prominent Secular Franciscan and close collaborator of the late Stephen Hartegen, OFM, at the Villa Cortona Retreat Center.
Additionally, the friars are mourning the death of Grace Griffin, sister of the late Vincent Carroll, OFM, who died Sept. 9.
