WASHINGTON, D.C. — Holy Name Province was one of more than 40 national groups signing on to a letter that calls for an increased U.S. support for civil society, peacebuiliding, humanitarian relief and responsible economic development.
The March 7 letter urges lawmakers to amend President Bush’s $99.6 Bn Emergency Supplemental to Address Critical $440 Mn Funding Gap in Iraq-related Relief and Development for fiscal year 2007. The actions that would be funded if this “gap” were filled are some of the few activities and developments that have been positive and successful in the Iraqi rebuilding.
Friars and partners in ministry are encouraged by Russ Testa, director of the Province’s Office of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Office, to read the full text of the letter and then express the views and calls in it to their members of Congress. More information is available through Russ at 202-541-5245 orJPIC@HNP.ORG.
