The Holy Name Province community is mourning the deaths of three friars’ relatives.
Ann Mai Thi Bach Nguyen, sister of Khoa Nguyen, OFM, of Greenville, S.C., Aug. 25. A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated Sept. 3 at Most Holy Trinity Church, San Jose, Calif.
Leroy Swartout, brother of Maurice Swartout, OFM, of Buffalo, N.Y., died Aug. 23. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Aug. 27 at St. Mary’s Nativity Parish in West Leyden, N.Y.
Winifred O’Connor, sister of Donnon Murray, OFM, of Tokyo, Japan, died Sept. 2. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 7 at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, Pa.
In addition, the friars extend sympathy to the families of several friends of the Province.
Sr. Eileen O’Brien, OSF, a Franciscan Sister of Allegany, died Aug. 19 at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, N.Y.
Aloysius Florio, OFM, vicar of the Custody of the Holy Land community in Washington, D.C., died Aug. 25 at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Aug. 30 at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land.
Dorothy Haussmann, Francis Medal recipient and secretary for 18 years at FrancisCare in Elmwood Park, N.J., died Aug. 26 in San Ramon, Calif., at the age of 91. Funeral rites will be held on Sept. 10 in Paramus, N.J.
