WILMINGTON, Del. — St. Joseph Church hosted the Provincial celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. this year on Jan. 22 here. The annual observance was held at the parish’s 11 a.m. Mass.
Dominic Monti presided and gave the homily. “The congregation murmured ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ throughout Dominic’s homily. Dominic recalled the joy that Martin Luther King felt in his last days, knowing that he was doing God’s will,” reports pastor John Frambes.
The mass lasted an hour and forty-five minutes, with lots of music from the Diocese of Wilmington Gospel choir. Afterward people spent a good bit of time enjoying each other’s company and plenty of food.
It was “a very joyful celebration,” according to Dominic.
