Visiting religious sites can help deepen one’s understanding of what took place there. During the next year, several ministries are planning trips to holy sites in Europe.
From Nov. 4 to 14, Gonzalo Torres-Acosta, OFM, of Butler, N.J., will lead a pilgrimage to Rome, Assisi, Florence and Venice. The trip includes a visit to Vatican City and an audience with the pope. The cost is $3,279 per person and includes round-trip airfare, meals, lodging and sightseeing. For a brochure and more information, contact Gonzalo at firstname.lastname@example.org or Shirley Costello at 1-800-221-4984 or email@example.com.
If you’re not able to travel in November, consider journeying to Franciscan Italy with Siena College from May 18 to 30, 2016. The pilgrimage will include stops in Rome, Orvieto, Siena, Firenze, Assisi, Greccio and Vatican City. A detailed itinerary is provided on Siena’s website. The cost of the trip is $4,200 per person and includes airfare, lodging, most meals and entrance fees and tips.
From April 24 to May 3, St. Francis Parish in Long Beach Island, N.J., will host a pilgrimage to Fatima, Lourdes and Barcelona. Other stops on the journey include Aljustrel, the site of the fifth apparition in Valinhos, Santarem, the Cathedral of Burgos, the Monastery of Santa Maria Real de Las Huelgas, the Grotto of Massabielle and Carcassone. The trip will cost $3,349 per person based on double occupancy, and includes airfare, most meals, accommodations and entrance fees.
