Philly SFO Welcomes Two

PHILADELPHIA — Xavier De La Huerta, OFM, was among a group that welcomed two new members to the Secular Franciscan Order’s fraternity here in January.

The new members, Cindy Baksay and Paul Beisel, committed themselves to the SFO family at a Jan. 10 Mass at St. Francis Inn in Philadelphia.

Xavier, the spiritual assistant to Philadelphia’s SFO, was pictured in the Feb. 2009 issue of The Pilgrim newsletter.

The publication described the SFO. “The rule and life of the SFO is to observe the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by following the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who made Christ the inspiration and the center of his life with God and people. Secular Franciscans should devote themselves especially to careful reading of the Gospel, and bringing the Gospel to life and life to the Gospel.”

Xavier, a native of Texas, has been a SFO spiritual assistant for more than 25 years.
