PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — A workshop titled “Caring for Our Sick in a Franciscan Manner,” sponsored by the Peekskill Franciscan Sisters, will be held May 18 to19 at Mt. St. Francis, 250 South Street here.
The program will be conducted by Fr. Thomas Nairn, OFM, a member of Sacred Heart Province and a professor of ethics at Chicago Theological Union. Fr. Tom, who holds a Ph.D. from the University Chicago Divinity School, has taught in the graduate programs at St. Bonaventure University , Yara Theological Union in Australia; St. Paul, Minn., Divinity School, and Holy Trinity College in Zimbabwe. He has been active in healthcare ethics.
Fr. Tom has been active in the Franciscan Order. He carried out an official canonical visitation of the Franciscans in South Africa from 1993 to 1994 and for those in East Africa in 1997; this year, he will undertake the visitation of the Australian Province.
