ROME — The Order’s Animation Committee for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) met in Rome in October to discuss activities over the past six months, plan for the next six years, and prepare for the upcoming international council meeting to be held in Bolivia in February.
News of the meeting was reported in the November issue of Contact, the monthly newsletter of the OFM International Council for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, by Joseph Rozansky, OFM, based in Rome.
The six-year JPIC plan, based on the document of the 2009 General Chapter, “Bearers of the Gift of the Gospel,” was presented to the General Definitorium last month,
The newsletter also provides a report from Pietro Pagliarini, OFM, about his recent travels to Morocco during Ramadan, and his visit to Christians in prison.
The issue also included a message from Pope Benedict XVI to Jacques Diouf, general director of FAO for World Food Day. In it, he writes: “Faithful to her vocation to be close to the most deprived, the Catholic Church promotes, sustains and participates in the efforts made to enable each people and each community to have access to the necessary means to guarantee an appropriate level of food security.”
