New York City Parish Offers Outreach to Job Seekers

HNP Communications Around the Province

NEW YORK — Pastor Andrew Reitz, OFM, announced a new ministry offered by St. Francis of Assisi Church to help people looking for work.

This new Job Seekers Outreach Ministry will begin a series of 11 Saturday afternoon sessions on Dec. 3 to assist job seekers in better organizing their searches.

The meetings are intended to both encourage those looking for work and to help them better manage expectations, said David Twomey, a parishioner who coordinates the parish’s Job Seekers Outreach Ministry. Twomey is well suited for this volunteer position, having more than 12 years of experience in administration, management and evaluation of non-profit workforce development programs.

People interested in the program are asked to set up a pre-enrollment in-person interview. To request an interview, call 212-736-8500 x 269, or email jobsministry@stfrancisnyc.org.

The program will be held at St. Francis House, 135 West 31st St. Information about the series can be found on the parish’s website.
