New Provincial Council Members Meet

HNP Communications In the Headlines

NEW YORK — The newly-elected members of Holy Name’s Provincial Council met last week to determine friar assignments for the next three years. The newest member of the Council is Thomas Conway, OFM, of the Long Beach Island, N.J., parish.

A list of new and reappointment assignments for HNP’s 40 locations was distributed to friars, based on the June 16 to 18 Post-Capitular Congressus held in the Provincial Office on West 31st Street. Though most of the guardians of the friaries and the pastors of the ministries remain the same, several will be new, beginning July 1.

The following are new guardians and pastors. The guardians have been appointed; the pastors have been proposed to local bishops whose approval is necessary.
Boston, Mass.: St. Anthony Residence — Richard McFeely, OFM, guardian
Butler, N.J.: St. Anthony’s Church —  John Alderson, OFM, guardian and pastor
East Rutherford, N.J :St. Joseph’s Church — Robert Sandoz, OFM,  guardian and pastor

The Provincial Councilors also discussed provincial directorates and committees, in light of the strategic plan approved by the recent Provincial Chapter. A realignment of responsibilities is planned, according to Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM. A new directorate for evangelization was created and will include several committees.

The Council is asking friars to serve as chairmen of these bodies, Dominic added.   All friars will soon be asked to indicate the provincial committees on which they would like to serve.

Shown in the photo above are the 2008 to 2011 members of the Provincial Council:  Thomas Conway, OFM, Francis Di Spigno, OFM, Christopher Coccia, OFM, Kevin Mullen, OFM, Dominic Monti, OFM, Daniel Dwyer, OFM, Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM, and F. Edward Coughlin, OFM.
