Holy Name Province’s Development Office and St. Anthony’s Guild are delighted to share two new spiritual resources that have been released just in time for the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Advent in My Pocket
Make time for daily prayer and peace this Advent season with “Advent in My Pocket,” a free palm-sized booklet of daily prayers, scripture reflections, and prayer intentions that will help you prepare for Christmas.

“As Franciscans, we are committed to bringing about God’s peace into our often violent and war-torn world, especially during this beautiful time of waiting and longing,” said David Convertino, OFM, executive director of the HNP Office of Development. “This Advent and Christmas season, we invite you to join us in prayer and action.”

“Advent in My Pocket” will help readers become more conscious of the ways they offer and receive God’s love through their encounters with family, friends and others. It is the perfect gift for those seeking to find moments of solace during the hectic weeks before Christmas.

“We hope these daily reflections and prayers throughout Advent and for Christmas Day will bring you great calmness and peace as we prepare for the celebration of God’s Word made flesh continuously in our midst,” said David.

“Advent in My Pocket” is available for free through the Franciscan Store.

Coffee with Mary
Imagine you could sit at your kitchen table with the Blessed Mother and have a cup of coffee. What feelings would you share with her? What questions would you ask her? How would she respond?

With the new book “Coffee with Mary,” by Sr. Fran McManus, RSM, readers are able to imagine what Mary might say as she helps us cope with the daily problems of life that each of us face.

The index contains a list of common scenarios – such as “I need to make a decision,” “My friend has cancer,” and “Sometimes I feel helpless,” – and a special meditation for each.

“‘Coffee with Mary’ makes a wonderful gift for any friend who experiences life’s difficulties and life’s joys,” said David. “It is a beautiful daily meditation with Mary that can provide comfort in difficult times and happiness and gratitude for those days filled with joy.”

“Coffee with Mary” is available for a suggested donation of $5, which includes shipping and handling. The booklet can be ordered through The Franciscan Store.
