WEST CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. — The Mt. Irenaeus community celebrated the life of Daniel Hurley, OFM, June 6, at an event concluding the Franciscan Mountain Retreat’s celebration of its 25th anniversary.
Remembrance and Gratitude
The celebration included a Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a procession to the labyrinth — a garden for remembrance and thanks — where Joseph Kotula, OFM, spoke briefly about Dan.
A brunch, held in the House of Peace, followed the procession to the labyrinth. Roughly 110 people, composed of friends and family of Dan Hurley, attended.
“Dan showed us the way and now has made his way in the Lord,” reflected Daniel Riley, OFM, director of Mt. Irenaeus. “The truth in our hearts knows he died and yet is somehow with us.”
Photos, which include Robert Struzynski, OFM, and Kevin Kriso, OFM, are posted on the Mt. Irenaeus Facebook page.

Later this month, the mountain begins its annual summer series, with the theme “Peace Be With You: The Spirit of Christ Renews the Church and the World.”
