Mt. Irenaeus Announces Spring Events

Rebecca Doel Around the Province

WEST CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. — Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan Mountain Retreat will host several events in the upcoming months, including a memorial Mass for Daniel Hurley, OFM.

To mark the one-year anniversary of Daniel’s death on March 13, 2010, the community will celebrate Mass in his honor on March 20, followed by a brunch.

In April, the mountain will be hosting a retreat and a work day.

The Franciscan Sojourners Retreat, April 1 to 3, is an open retreat for faith-sharing. “From different locales, we gather to grow at the mountain, our spiritual home.” For more information or to register, contact Mt. Irenaeus staff member Michelle Marcellin at (716) 375-2096.

April 9 is the next Mountain Work Day. The weekend will begin the evening of April 8 with meals, prayer and community. On Saturday, St. Bonaventure University students and members on the Mt. Irenaeus community will take on indoor and outdoor projects.

In addition, Mountain on the Road events are planned for early next month in the Washington, D.C., area. Holy Name College, the Province’s house of studies in Silver Spring, Md., will host the April 8 gathering.

The events were publicized in the winter 2010 Mt. Irenaeus newsletter and on the News & Events page of the mountain’s website.
