Notable events for the month of June include:

One Year Ago
June 10, 2016 – The friars bid farewell to Sr. Margaret Carney, OSF, who had served as president of St. Bonaventure University in Western New York since 2004.

June 23, 2016 – Holy Name Province honored 14 friars for their anniversaries of profession. This year, on June 22, seven jubilarians will be commemorated.

Five Years Ago
June 7, 2012 – Siena College broke ground for a high-tech academic building.  Rosetti Hall was Siena’s first LEED-certified building due to its environmentally friendly design, complete with a geothermal heating and cooling system, as well as photovoltaic solar panels on the roof.

June 10-17, 2012 – Friars and other Franciscans gathered at St. Bonaventure University to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Poor Clares.

June 21, 2012 – A dozen friars were honored for their jubilees, commemorating those marking 50 and 25 years since their first professions

Ten Years Ago
June 1, 2007 – Kevin Mullen, OFM, began his position as president of Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. He served in the role until summer 2014, when he was elected Provincial Minister.

June 5-8, 2007 – Close to 200 members of Holy Name Province gathered for a Chapter of Mats on the campus of Siena College, where the 2017 Chapter was held from June 4 to 9.

June 7, 2007 – Two friars – Steven DeWitt, OFM, and Daniel Horan, OFM professed their first vows at a Mass at Siena College during the 2007 Provincial Chapter.

25 Years Ago
June 7, 1992 – Our Lady’s Chapel in New Bedford, Mass., was closed with a celebration of the friars’ ministry there.

June 13, 1992 – The 100th anniversary of St. Anthony’s Church in Butler, N.J., was commemorated.

June 20, 1992 – Two friars – William Herbst, OFM, and Barry Langley, OFM – professed their final vows.

30 Years Ago
June 20, 1987 – Six friars professed their solemn profession of vows before then Provincial Minister Anthony Carrozzo, OFM, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City. They included Paul Breslin, OFM, Daniel Dwyer, OFM, Michael Harlan, OFM, John Marino, OFM, and the late David Haack, OFM.
