WASHINGTON — The Monastery of the Holy Land has announced a program for men and women religious about the upcoming Year of Consecrated Life.

A monthly series of discussions titled “Claiming our Future” begins Tuesday, Dec. 9 and will continue through January 2016. The gatherings will be simulcast on www.myfranciscan.com. More information can be found in a flyer and by calling (202) 526-6800 ext. 374. The programs are open to men and women in all forms of consecrated life.

The 14-month YCL, announced last year by Pope Francis, begins at the start of Advent and runs until Feb. 2, 2016.

Other upcoming events are posted on the website of the monastery, which currently features a Thanksgiving reflection about gratitude by staff member Fr. Jason Welle, OFM, of Assumption BVM Province.

Also on the site are links to information about vocations, pilgrimages and Holy Land Review magazine. In addition, the site provides information about tours of the monastery that some call “one of the hidden treasures” of Washington, D.C.

The monastery’s hermitage is also open to visitors who wish to spend time alone in contemplative prayer.
