HNP Communications Around the Province

NEW YORK — The Province has three ministry opportunities — one for a communications coordinator at its offices in Manhattan, and two — employment and housing specialists — at St. Francis Urban Center in Philadelphia.

The communications coordinator is a varied position that includes both writing and design skills, will assist director of communications Jocelyn Thomas in delivering information to the friars and to the public.

Responsibilities include writing and editing text for the Web site and e-newsletter, identifying content, uploading text/photos to the Web, researching information, formatting/modifying art files of print publications, designing flyers, ads and other  projects, and more.

The entry-level position requires a degree in journalism, graphics or a related field, and a proficiency in computer design programs.

John Gill, OFM, is expanding the work of the St. Francis Urban Center in Philadelphia and is looking for two new staff members.

The employment specialist will develop a job development program, and provide placement assistance and support services to the  center.

Applicants will need a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and at least two years of experience in developing jobs for homeless and low-income people. Responsibilities include assessing job skills, and the ability to match them with appropriate positions.

The housing specialist will provide housing and case management services to the Center’s guests. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is needed, as well as social work or case management experience. The position will interview and assess needs and eligibility for housing resources.

St. Francis Urban Center is a two-year-old ministry, located not far from major highways, that is affiliated with the Province’s St. Francis Inn.
