Meet Holy Name Province’s Two New Postulants-To-Be

HNP Franciscan Vocation Ministry Be A Franciscan, Home Page – News

On Sunday, Aug. 1, St. Francis of Assisi Friary in New York City welcomed and hosted the province’s two newest postulants-to-be, John Paul Kashmer and Martin Tran, who are scheduled to be welcomed into the interprovincial postulancy program at Holy Name College in Silver Spring, Md., later this month.

The postulants enjoyed three days of fraternity with the friars. On Sunday evening, the friars organized a cookout barbecue in celebration of the men. Monday marked the feast of the Portiuncola. The postulants observed the Franciscan feast by joining the friars for morning and evening prayer (as they did throughout their stay), meeting with the community, enjoying fraternal gatherings and discussions together, and sightseeing around New York City. Morning prayer celebrated on the feast was significant, as the new postulants and the community at 31st Street enjoyed the reflection given by Provincial Minister Kevin Mullen, OFM, after the reading. Finally, on Tuesday, John Paul and Martin spent several hours enjoying time with the fraternity and exploring the city before they prepared for their departure.

Please join us in praying for and celebrating these men, and all new postulants in the US-6 OFM fraternity, who responded to God’s call in their lives, especially as they take their first steps into postulancy on August 11, 2021, the feast of St. Clare of Assisi.
