NEW YORK — A booklet explaining the new translation of the English texts of the Mass is available at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street. To help parishioners prepare for changes in the Mass, which take effect Nov. 27, copies of Understanding the Revised Mass Text are being sold.
There are 207 days before the implementation of the third edition of the Roman Missal begins, according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website, which offers resources about the new Mass text.
The Midtown Manhattan church is also offering to parishioners and others who stop by the reception desk a book about the historic church.
The guidebook, titled The Church of Saint Francis of Assisi: The Heart of New York, features 36 pages of color photos of the mosaics, statuary, windows and sanctuary as well as information about the historic church.
According to a recent issue of the parish bulletin: “Many of our visitors comment to us about the beauty of our church, as well as the uplifting liturgies.”
