Mychal’s Message founder Shannon Hickey is celebrating the 15th anniversary of her life-saving liver transplant. Mychal’s Message was founded in the memory of Mychal Judge, who died in the attacks on 9/11. Mychal was a close friend of the family and helped Shannon spiritually in her recovery after surgery. 15 year old Shannon chooses a special project each year to celebrate her successful transplant surgery. This year she has chosen “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” and will collect new sneakers for the homeless and poor. These items will be given out at the breadline at St. Francis Church on West 31st Street in New York on a date to be announced. The anniversary celebration on February 12 will be attended by Cassian Miles and New york City police officer Steven McDonald, also a close friend of Mychal. Cassian is Mychal’s classmate and assited the Hickey and Lynch families during their previous projects to benefit the breadline that has seen more than 80,000 items distributed to the homeless.
