Linh Hoang, currently an adjunct in the religious studies department at Siena College, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on March 24 at Fordham University Rose Hill campus.
The title of the dissertation is “Creating New Spiritual Homes: Vietnamese Refugees Negotiating American and Catholic Identities.” The dissertation examines the impact of the Vietnamese American Catholic in the American Catholic Church. It also appropriates the doctrine of the Trinity as a way to interpret Vietnamese American Catholic experience. This approach offers a way for other refugee communities to reflect culturally, historically and theologically with not only the American Church but the universal Church.
Linh will be granted a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology.
