BOSTON – On Sept. 2, the friars at St. Anthony Shrine welcomed men in formation with the Immaculate Conception Province to the shrine. Included were five recently received postulants and one newly professed friar. Our friars gave these students a tour of the shrine and invited them to preprandium and dinner.
On Sept. 3, the friars celebrated with the religious sisters with whom they minister and serve. The communities represented were the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, the Missionary Franciscans of the Immaculate Conception, the Sister Disciples of the Divine Master, one Allegany Franciscan and one Sister of the Holy Cross of Vietnam. Micky Logemman and her family also attended.
Prior to dinner, David Convertino welcomed the group and called forward Sister Patricia Barrett, FMM, Micky Logemann and Sister Nieves, PDDM. He commissioned Sr. Pat and Micky as the new director and assistant director of the Wellness Center. Following this, he blessed Sr. Nieves who will be leaving Boston to assume her new ministry as regional superior of her community and will be stationed in Staten Island.
The friars, sisters, and family members ended the prayer service by singing the blessing of Saint Francis. It was truly a Franciscan evening of celebration and welcome!
