NEW YORK — Eleven friars commemorating major anniversaries of profession as Franciscans will be honored in June by the Province.
All are welcome to the annual celebration on June 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street. A 5:30 p.m. Mass, celebrated by Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM, will be followed by a reception for guests of the jubilarians.
Those marking 50 years as a friar this year are: • Louis Canino, OFM, of Stoneville, N.C. • Bernard Creighton, OFM, of Butler, N.J. • John Felice, OFM, of New York City • Richard James, OFM, of Boston • Michael Madden, OFM, of St. Petersburg, Fla. • Emeric Meier, OFM, of Boston • Michael Putich, OFM, of Buffalo, N.Y. • William Scully, OFM, of Narrowsburg, N.Y.
Those marking 25 years as a friar are: • Henry Fulmer, OFM, of Anderson, S.C. • William Herbst, OFM, of Wilmington, Del. • Barry Langley, OFM, of Boston
Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM, will send printed invitations to the jubilarians so they may invite relatives and friends to the June festivities.
