PATERSON, N.J. – The friars ordained in 1956 celebrated their 50th jubilee of ordination June 15 at St. Bonaventure Church here.
The members of the jubilee class joined the principal celebrant, John O’Connor, in celebrating a Mass. About 50 friars and 200 laypeople – many family members, and current and former parishioners of the jubilarians – participated. In spite a missing organist and a malfunctioning sound system, the friars and congregation responded in celebrating joyfully. Richard Husteddid a marvelous job leading the congregation in their singing.
Following the Mass, all enjoyed a buffet lunch in the Bishop Thomas Manning Hall across the street from the church.
Participating from the ordination class of 1956 were Christian Camadella, Brennan Connelly, Gerald Dolan,Edward Donohue, Theodore Lehr, Donnon Murray, John Richardson, Ignatius Smith, Alan Sullivan, Flavian Walsh and Rayner Williams. Absent were Alexis Morris, Rene Phillips and Cyril Seaman. Members of the class who died before making the 50th anniversary are Gerald Carr, Vincent Dougherty, Eugene Dudley, Joseph Holohan, Warren Louth, William McGavin, Samuel O’Connor, Celestine Pagini and Xavier Simonetii
